In Uganda, over 5.5 million people live with a disability, facing huge barriers to essential medical care, physical therapy, and assistive technology.
Children make up nearly 80% of those in need of specialized rehabilitation and life-changing surgery.
Comprehensive Rehabilitation Services for People with Disability in Uganda (CoRSU), an NGO, is on a mission to ensure no child is left behind. Located in Kisubi along Entebbe Road, CoRSU provides services including; orthopaedic and reconstructive surgery, physiotherapy, occupational therapy, speech and language therapy, psychotherapy, nutrition rehabilitation, prosthetics and orthotics, assistive devices and diagnostics. CoRSU also operates a 3D printing laboratory that produces prosthetic, orthotic, and other assistive devices.
Below are some of the conditions
- Clubfoot, bowlegs, knock knees, and bone infections.
- Cleft lip and palate repairs, burn contracture releases, and complex wounds.
- Physical therapy, specialized mobility devices, and nutritional support.
How Your Support Helps
Every year, CoRSU reaches tens of thousands of patients through hospital care and community outreach, however 200 - 500 of the identified cases in the community go unmanaged due to financial constraints.
Your contribution will support to cover this gap.
Averagely, a surgery costs UGX 4,000,000 and every penny is a goal to achieving at least 50% or more of the gap
